Alex Rolfe

Alex began her dance training at Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy before moving to Melbourne after being accepted into the Australian Ballet School. After completing her training with the Australian Ballet School Alex attended the Australian International Ballet Academy before gaining a finishing year position at the prestigious Nationale Ballet Academie in Amsterdam, Holland.

During this time Alex was selected to work with Het Nationale (Dutch National Ballet Company) in the companies’ productions of Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. Alex relocated to London, UK and was successful in receiving a contract with English National Ballet where she performed in a number of productions including Swan Lake in -the-round choreographed by Derek Deane at the Royal Albert Hall. Following this, Alex moved to Lisbon, Portugal where she danced as a member of the Companhia Nacional de Bailado. During her time in Portugal, Alex performed in a number of productions including Cinderella, Swan Lake, Firebird, Orfeu E Euridice, Sleeping Beauty and the Nutcracker. Alex’s career highlights include performing George Balanchine’s ‘Serenade', Hans Van Manen’s ‘5 Tangoes’ and the iconic Queen of the Wilis. 

After her time in Portugal, Alex decided to come back to Australia and was fortunate to receive a contract with the Australian Ballet, performing in the companies’ production of  'Alice's Adventures In Wonderland'. Following this, Alex took up a contract with Melbourne City Ballet, remaining with the company for their 2018 2019 seasons. 

Alex has been working with Opera Australia since 2019 performing for both their Melbourne and Sydney seasons and is currently performing at the Sydney Opera House in ‘Faust’. 

Alex is a qualified and practising Pilates Method Instructor, having attained a Diploma of Pilates Instruction in both mat and studio repertoire. She is also a dedicated GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® teacher.

Alex’s passion for human movement extends beyond her knowledge as a dancer and she employs her skills and knowledge of the human body and its complexities from her GYROTONIC®, GYROKINESIS® and Pilates training in all her teaching work.

As a teacher Alex works extensively with students across a broad spectrum, from recreational dancers to aspiring pre-professional dancers and professional dancers in companies such as the Australian Ballet Company. Alex is a highly esteemed and sought after teacher with a lifelong involvement in dance and a genuine dedication to helping her students attain their own goals in whatever form they may take.
