International Mentor Program
BWA is excited to announce our new International Mentor Program.
Inspired by the opportunities to connect with the global dance community during the COVID period, particularly through our virtual gala, BWA has a new project designed to support and foster the continued artistic and technical development of our students.
Our mentor program will involve select students being awarded a 6 month position to train and connect with a mentor overseas. Mentors will include world class dancers such as Stuttgart Ballet's soloist Jessica Fyfe.
Dancers will keep in touch with regular correspondence as well as monthly virtual coaching sessions, which are a powerful tool and give students access to the valuable input of professional dancers overseas on an ongoing basis that was previously not an option.
We are incredibly excited to begin this program and to expand upon it with new mentors from different countries and companies around the world connecting with our regional dancers demonstrating the possibilities of a successful international dance career and facilitating a beautiful partnership for the mentors themselves as they inspire younger dancers remotely!
Our first mentor program position will be awarded in coming weeks and will be with Stuttgart Ballet's soloist, Jessica Fyfe.
Jessica began her training with Marie Walton Dance Academy in Newcastle before continuing at the Australian Ballet School. From 2010 - 2015 Jessica danced with The Australian Ballet Company performing many solo roles. In 2016 Jessica joined the Stuttgart Ballet as a demi-soloist and was promoted to soloist in 2019/20.
