Lauren Songberg
Lauren began dancing at a young age in Sydney, Australia discovering a passion for and desire to pursue more intensive classical training. Lauren’s talent was recognised very early and she was chosen to perform in the Australian Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. As a student at Mcdonald College Lauren performed with the Premier State Ballet in various roles across a number of productions.
After being awarded a full scholarship, Lauren took up a position at the prestigious English National Ballet School where she continued her full time training under Tamara Rojo and Carlos Valcárel. During her time at the ENBS Lauren worked with various esteemed dancers, teachers and choreographers across classical and contemporary styles, developing a rich and diverse exposure which is so evident in her dancing and teaching.
Lauren then furthered her training at the European School of Ballet under the directorship of Jean-Yves Esquerre. Lauren has danced with English National Ballet in productions such as Swan Lake.
Whilst in Australia Lauren is keen to impart her knowledge, experience and passion for dance with students particularly in regional areas. Lauren loves teaching ballet and contemporary, bringing her English and European dance training and performance experience to Australia and we are delighted to have her as part of the BWA team.
