Nicole Corea
Nicole Corea is originally from Palmyra, NY. Following her early training with Sandy Stramonine and Lynne Kareken, she attended the prestigious Juilliard School, graduating with a BFA in 2000.
In the last 20 years of her professional career, she has performed on some of the world’s most renowned stages including the Metropolitan Opera House and Joyce Theater in New York City, The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Teatro Romano in Spoleto, Italy and the Stanislavsky Theater in Moscow. She has been a company member of many reputable dance companies as a soloist and principal dancer including Ballet Hispanico of NY (00'-02'), Elisa Monte Dance (02'-04'), Ballet Memphis (07'-09'), Lar Lubovitch Dance Company (10'-present) the Metropolitan Opera Ballet (04-present).
Film and television highlights include numerous live worldwide HD screenings of performances at the Metropolitan Opera, a ballerina for Beyoncé’s European tour promotional video for the song “Bow Down” and as a back-up dancer for Taylor Dayne’s “Tell it to My Heart” on Fox5 News.
In 2015, Nicole was sponsored by the U.S. Embassy to represent the United States by performing at the first annual Ubumuntu Arts Festival in Kigali, Rwanda. In 2018, Nicole was chosen for the original cast of “Isadora” choreographed by Russian contemporary choreographer, Vladimir Varnava, performing alongside the world famous ballerina, Natalia Osipova.
Throughout her years in New York, Nicole has had the honor of being nominated twice for the Princess Grace Award for her dedication and commitment to her craft. She has also been featured in The NY Times, Dance Magazine and in an article in Dance Spirit Magazine about her transition from college to career.
Nicole is also an accomplished independent choreographer and has had four original works commissioned by the first company of Ballet Memphis as well as by the Ballet Memphis junior company. Her work has also been presented in theaters across New York City as part of Thang Dao Contemporary Dance Festival, Latin Choreographers Festival, Manhattan Movement Arts Center, and Greenspace Brooklyn. Most recently, she collaborated with the non-profit organization MindLeaps to create a work for the annual Ubumuntu Arts Festival at the Genocide Memorial Museum in Kigali, Rwanda.
As a teaching artist, Nicole has taught master classes for all affiliated companies and has traveled the U.S and abroad as a guest teacher for master classes, workshops, conventions and lectures. Since 2014, she has been a teaching ambassador and contemporary curriculum creator for the MindLeaps program in Rwanda as well an annual guest teaching artist for the Jikei Group of Colleges in Japan. In 2012, Nicole was invited to speak at TedX Rochester sharing her presentation about living a creative life entitled “Life as Improvisation.” She has also been a guest teacher at many reputable institutions across the USA including Steps on Broadway, Broadway Dance Center and Peridance in NYC, Dance Masters of America, Peoria Ballet (Illinois), and the Destro Experience led by Destini Rogers (So You think You Can Dance Season 1).
Since 2003, Nicole has also acted as repetiteur and assistant choreographer for dance companies, independent choreographers, films, musicals and music videos. She has staged the work of Elisa Monte and Lar Lubovitch coaching and teaching the dancers of the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, The Juilliard School, the Ailey/Fordham BFA program, Marymount Manhattan College, UC Irvine and the Booker T. Washington High School. She has served as the ballet mistress for the New York City based Damagedance (NYC, 2013-2017) and as the rehearsal director for the resident company at Steps on Broadway, the Steps Repertory Ensemble (2014-2016). She has worked as an assistant to Warren Adams (Motown, Broadway choreographer) on many projects including the creation of the 20th anniversary live show of the “Lion King” in Orlando, Florida, the original children’s musical “EnviroKids”and Chameleon’s original music video entitled “Stay Wait” starring principal dancers of the New York City Ballet.
Other company credits include Nilas Martins Dance, Pier Group, Thomas/Ortiz, Roger C. Jeffrey Subtle Changes, Mark Stuart Dance, Busch Gardens Tampa as well as numerous independent choreographers throughout NYC and the East Coast. In addition, Nicole is a 200 hr RYT certified Vinyasa yoga instructor.
