Mitchell Rayner

Mitchell began formal dance lessons at 13 in his home town of Newcastle, at the Robyn Turner Ballet School, where he studied classical ballet, jazz, contemporary and character dance. In 2003 Mitch began full-time dance studies under the guidance of Tessa Maunder. Selected to take up a position at The Australian Ballet School in 2005, Mitch went on to complete his dance training and was asked to perform in the company’s ballets Revolutions and Raymonda. 

After performing and touring with The Dancers Company throughout 2006, Mitch joined The Australian Ballet Company in 2008 and went on to perform many roles with the company across the traditional classical repertoire as well as new works by esteemed choreographers such as Graeme Murphy and Alexei Ratmansky. 

After performing and touring extensively in Australia and Internationally with the company, Mitch retired in 2016 and is now a highly sought after teacher, mentor and coach, especially for male dancers. Mitch has worked with the Royal Academy of Dance in their “Project B” initiative, encouraging boys to pursue and fulfil their dreams in dance.
